Federal safety investigators announced a recall of some
2007 Ram3500 Dodge vehicles for fuel tank dangers.
Turns out that on some cab or chassis pickup trucks the
fuel tank straps were made using the wrong manufacturing
material and can separate, which can cause the fuel tank
to loosen and leak fuel. The bad straps were made in Mexico.
The affected vehicles are equipped with an optional 23 gallon
fuel tank apparently and were built between February 24,
2006 and June 28, 2007, according to Chrysler reports to
the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration
officials.
A fuel leak, safety investigators report, “in the
presence of an ignition source can result in an underbody
fire.” You don’t need to be an engineer to figure
that one out folks!
