Nissan has recalled 109,437 minivan motor vehicles because
of problems with a seat adjustment mechanism. Nissan said
that when adjusting the second row seat, the metal mechanism
can injure the consumer who trying to move the seat.
On the earlier model vehicles that were built up to June
28, 2004, Nissan dealers will replace the inboard second
row seat adjustment handle, rivet a plastic reinforcement
to backside of the existing seat back cover carpeting, install
tie-downs and a flange to the inboard side shield.
On the Quest vehicles produced from June 29, 2004 through
September 26, 2005, Nissan dealers are reportedly planning
to rivet a plastic reinforcement to the backside of the existing
seat back cover carpeting, install tie-downs and a flange
on the inboard side shield to fix the defect.
In spite of the recall, the Nissan Quest model has made
strides in quality rankings, according to J.D. Power’s
2005 survey. Still, in the last two years the model has had
its problems. Also the subject of recent recalls were some
vehicles in the 2005 Murano, 2005 Sentra, 2005 Xterra Nissan
motor vehicle lines.
